Skincare for eczema & psoriasis built for sensitive, atopic skin
Specifically for eczema (atopic dermatitis) and psoriasis: waterless skincare without preservatives or synthetic fragrance. The hidden triggers — gone.
The hidden triggers in your skincare
Preservatives
Parabens, phenoxyethanol and imidazolidinyl urea are needed when skincare contains water — and they're documented contact allergens, well-known triggers for eczema and psoriasis flares.
Fourth Era doesn't contain water, so it doesn't need preservatives. Full stop.
Synthetic fragrance
Fragrance is the most common contact allergen in eczema and psoriasis. Even "natural" fragrances can sting.
Fourth Era is fully fragrance-free — only the natural scent of the oils and waxes themselves. Nothing added. Pure safety for sensitive skin.
Water & dilution
Water dilutes actives down to 10–30% of their effective potency. A cream with 80% water means 80% dilution.
Eczema and psoriasis ask for maximum lipid concentration — not dilution. A waterless formula means 100% actives, no compromise.

Eczema vs. psoriasis - what's the difference?
Eczema (atopic dermatitis)
- Overactive immune response
- Heavy itching (and itching leads to scratching)
- Dryness from a faulty skin barrier
- Often hereditary
- Common in infancy and childhood
- Main triggers: allergens, irritants, stress
- Need: barrier repair + itch relief
ABBIE for eczema: ABBIE’s lipid composition is geared specifically to barrier repair. By skipping preservatives and synthetic fragrance, it removes the top triggers. Excellent for daily face use and milder body areas.
Psoriasis
- Autoimmune inflammation (T-cell overactivity)
- Characteristic plaques with silvery scale
- A thicker, less permeable barrier (which sounds counter-intuitive)
- Genetic component
- Often appears in adulthood
- Main triggers: stress, infection, trauma
- Need: intensive lipid replenishment + soothing
ABBIE + ANGIE for psoriasis: Psoriasis plaques have heavy lipid loss. ANGIE – extra-rich – is ideal for thick plaques (elbows, knees). ABBIE works for the face. Both eliminate preservative-driven triggers that worsen psoriasis.
What eczema and psoriasis have in common
The mechanisms are different, but both conditions share an enemy: barrier dysfunction. Both react over-sensitively to irritants like preservatives and fragrance. Both ask for intensive lipid care without water dilution. Fourth Era’s waterless, preservative-free philosophy speaks directly to both – no matter which one you’re dealing with.

Common triggers, and how Fourth Era handles them
| Common trigger | Why it's a problem for eczema/psoriasis | The Fourth Era answer |
|---|---|---|
| Parabens (preservatives) | Contact allergen, immune irritant, flare trigger | Not present (no water = no microbial growth) |
| Phenoxyethanol | Common contact allergy in atopic skin | ✓ Fully excluded |
| Synthetic fragrance | Most common contact allergen in eczema | 0% — fully fragrance-free |
| Emulsifiers | Barrier irritation | Not needed (waterless formula) |
| Water (dilution) | Weakens the barrier, dilutes actives | 100% waterless, 100% concentrated |
| SLS / SLES (in cleansers) | Aggressive cleansing, barrier damage | LEON oil cleanse, not soap |
| Alcohol | Drying, irritating | ✓ Not in the formula |
| Moisture loss after showering | Classic eczema and psoriasis trigger | ABBIE / ANGIE seal moisture in immediately |
Why waterless skincare for eczema and psoriasis?
The core point: water needs preservatives
Skincare with water is a biological habitat. Bacteria, yeast and mould grow in damp environments. To stop that, conventional creams use preservatives – parabens, methylchloroisothiazolinone, phenoxyethanol.
The catch:
Those preservatives are documented contact allergens and known triggers for eczema and psoriasis flares. A classic dilemma.
Fourth Era’s waterless skincare side-steps the problem elegantly: with no water, there’s nothing for microbes to grow in. Preservatives aren’t needed. The barrier is safer, immediately.
- 100% actives instead of 30% (with the rest being water)
- Maximum lipid concentration for barrier repair
- No preservatives = no allergy triggers
- Longer shelf life (no microbes = stable formula)
- No emulsifiers needed (no water-oil mixing)
DGAKI & AWMF guidelines for atopic dermatitis:
The German Society for Clinical Immunology, Allergology and Environmental Medicine (DGAKI) and the Association of the Scientific Medical Societies (AWMF) explicitly recommend:
- ✓ Preservative-free base care for eczema
- ✓ Intensive lipid delivery for barrier repair
- ✓ Hypoallergenic formulations (free of typical allergens)
- ✓ Dermatologically tested for sensitive / atopic skin
Your three-phase eczema routine
Morning
Step 1: Gentle cleanse (optional)
Light rinse with lukewarm water, or LEON oil if you're meaningfully grimy.
Step 2: Apply ABBIE
Generously, on still-damp skin. This locks moisture in and protects against daytime triggers.
Step 3: Optional extra layer
For very dry skin, a second light layer of ABBIE or ANGIE for additional protection.
Evening
LEON cleansing oil to lift dirt, make-up and sweat. Wipe gently - no aggressive scrubbing.
Immediately after cleansing (skin still slightly damp): ABBIE for daily care, or ANGIE for an intensive overnight treatment.
In winter weather or during a flare, generously apply ANGIE for deep overnight recovery. Cover with cotton gloves for added protection.
During an active flare
Only lukewarm water, no soap or oil. Heavy cleansing makes flares worse.
Straight after the shower, a thick layer of ANGIE. This is your emergency barrier seal.
Fourth Era supports, but doesn't replace, medical treatment. For severe flares: topical steroids or calcineurin inhibitors + Fourth Era as base care.

Natural care for your skin
Order today and start a different chapter.
Important: Fourth Era is skincare, not medicine. Fourth Era UNDILUTED products are cosmetic care, not medication. Fourth Era supports your daily flare-prevention routine – it doesn’t replace dermatological treatment. For active eczema or psoriasis flares, always consult a dermatologist.
- Mild to moderate flares: Fourth Era as base care + topical steroids / calcineurin inhibitors prescribed by your doctor.
- Severe flares: require immediate medical intervention – Fourth Era is a supportive helper here, not the main therapy.
- Systemic psoriasis: biologics or systemics remain medication – Fourth Era complements barrier care.
- Patch test recommended: even with natural products, a 48-hour test on an unobtrusive spot before full use.
- Especially for infants & children: dermatological check before use is recommended; Fourth Era is well-suited for barrier support in eczema-prone babies.
The best routine works hand in hand with your dermatologist – Fourth Era is your steady partner in that collaboration.

Frequently asked questions about eczema and psoriasis
Which cream is best for eczema?
ABBIE from Fourth Era UNDILUTED™ is built for eczema. As preservative-free, fragrance-free waterless skincare, it removes the two main triggers (synthetic fragrance and preservatives) that worsen flares. The lipid composition reinforces the disrupted skin barrier, in line with DGAKI guidance. ABBIE doesn't replace medical treatment during active flares, but supports the daily routine between dermatological interventions.
What helps with eczema in winter?
Winter makes eczema worse - dry indoor heating, cold wind, low humidity. The barrier becomes brittle. Mornings: ABBIE as light care. Evenings: ANGIE with concentrated lipids for intensive hydration. After showering: cleanse with LEON, then immediately apply ABBIE or ANGIE to lock water into the skin. Winter routines need more lipid and less water — and that's exactly what waterless skincare delivers.
Is pharmacy eczema cream better?
Pharmacy creams often contain water and preservatives (parabens, phenoxyethanol) that can themselves trigger eczema. Waterless skincare like ABBIE doesn't need preservatives by design - and offers 100% actives, undiluted. Many pharmacy standards work fine for prevention, but where genuine triggers are involved, water-plus-preservative-based creams aren't enough. Waterless formulas concentrate lipids at the highest possible level.
What skincare for psoriasis on the body and face?
Psoriasis on the face needs a lighter formulation than the body. Face: ABBIE - moisturising, non-irritating, focused on barrier support. Body (elbows, knees, lower legs): ANGIE - extra-rich for intensive care of thick plaques. Intimate area: CLEO. Core idea: psoriasis plaques have major lipid loss. Waterless products replace those lipids directly, without the water-and-preservative ballast.
Which body wash works for eczema?
Conventional body washes contain sulfates (SLS/SLES), preservatives and synthetic fragrance - all known triggers for eczema flares. LEON cleansing oil is the alternative: pure, lipid-based, no foam, no chemicals. LEON cleanses gently, lifts dirt and make-up, doesn't damage the skin barrier. After LEON, apply ABBIE immediately to seal the moisture in. That's the dermatologist-friendly routine for sensitive skin.
Does almond oil help with eczema?
Yes, almond oil is rich in linoleic acid and omega-6 fatty acids, both of which support the skin barrier and help in eczema. Provided it's pure. In water-based creams, almond oil is diluted with water and combined with preservatives, which strips its effectiveness. ABBIE and ANGIE contain a high concentration of almond-related actives in waterless form, so the full effect is preserved. That's the difference between diluted almond oil and concentrated almond-oil content.
Does psoriasis get worse with stress?
Yes, psychological stress reliably triggers psoriasis flares via the cortisol pathway. Chronic stress worsens inflammation and weakens the skin barrier. You can't always avoid stress, but you can remove physical triggers. A consistent routine with Fourth Era (ABBIE + ANGIE) at least removes the cosmetic triggers (preservatives, fragrance), so the body carries less total load. That helps the skin handle stress-induced flares better. Best strategy: stress reduction + a preservative-free routine, in combination.
What is preservative-free eczema moisturiser?
Conventional moisturisers are 70–90% water. Water needs preservatives to keep bacteria and fungi out. Those preservatives (methylchloroisothiazolinone, phenoxyethanol, parabens) are common contact allergens for eczema. Waterless moisturiser (ABBIE) doesn't need preservatives by design - without water, microbes can't grow. ABBIE is 100% active lipids and oils, sealing moisture into the skin without chemical preservatives.
Can I use a sauna with psoriasis?
Moderate sauna use can help: heat boosts local circulation and can briefly reduce scaling. But sauna is also a trigger - dry heat damages the barrier, and chlorine or other chemicals can sting. After the sauna the skin is dehydrated. The fix: shower right after sauna (LEON for cleansing), then apply a thick layer of ABBIE or ANGIE. The barrier is warm and more receptive - waterless oils sink in optimally. Avoid saunas with aggressive chemicals; choose a clean facility where possible.
Is eczema contagious?
No - eczema isn't contagious. Atopic dermatitis is a genetically-driven over-reaction of the immune system to environmental factors. It's not an infection, no virus or bacteria are responsible. You can't "catch" it from someone with eczema. That said, eczema is often hereditary: if one or both parents have eczema, the child's risk is higher. Which is why early barrier support with preservative-free skincare matters, especially in infants and young children.
